The 2018 road racing season sneaked up on us here at HDB Press. Saturday I received an email notification that the High Desert Bicycles Racing Team had riders participating at Zia Velo’s Trifecta down south in Hillsboro and Las Cruces and then then the next thing I know NBC Sports is televising the first stage of Paris-Nice. Looks like I need to get it in gear.
Thanks to Thomas Mattsson, our field-reporter for the Trifecta, we have a few results and pictures.
Gene Doughtery, center left, placed 1st in the Men’s Master criterium and road races.
In the Men’s Cat 4 road race John Heck hit the podium in 3rd place. Alex Ramos placed 9th and Thomas Mattsson placed 12th in the field of approximately 30 riders.
Scott Steffen tied Bill Dahl of 505 Cycling for 1st place in the Men’s Master TT. Thomas Mattsson placed 6th in the Men’s Cat 4 TT.
In the Women’s Cat 4 TT Dot Philip hit the podium in 3rd place while Judi Mumm and Julie McCollough placed 8th and 11th respectively.
Daniel Ruiz, racing his first bicycle race as a cat 5, placed 6th in the TT, 7th in the criterium and 8th in the road race even after suffering and having to repair a flat tire.
Congratulations to all HDB riders. Please email us any updated results or more photos from the Trifecta.
GET OUT AND RIDE!
